COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
APHA is requiring all in-person attendees to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.
By registering for the event, you agree to comply with our COVID-19 vaccination requirement by Oct. 27. Attendees who are unable to show proof of vaccination will not be allowed to enter the event.
You must have completed either of the following:
Option 1: Full primary series plus one updated booster
- Two shots of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or one shot of the Johnson and Johnson product.
- One updated booster (also called the bivalent booster) since September 2022.
Option 2: Updated vaccine since September 2023
- One shot of the updated Pfizer, Moderna or Novovax vaccine made available in fall 2023, no matter what previous vaccines you may or may not have received.
You must have completed the full primary series as described above (or a comparably approved vaccine) plus one booster since January 2022.
While not required for attendance at APHA 2023, we strongly encourage everyone to get one of the recently approved updated COVID-19 vaccines when available to you. See more from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. We also recommend everyone receive the flu vaccination.

What is the deadline if I want my meeting credentials mailed to me?
To receive your credentials before the meeting, your vaccination must be electronically verified by Oct. 13.
Are any requirements waived if I just had COVID-19?
If you have had COVID since Aug. 12, 2023 and you had your original series but not a booster since 2022, the requirement for the updated vaccine is waived. Please bring a doctor’s note with your positive dates to the registration check-in to get your badge onsite.
How do I get a medical or religious exemption?
Email email@example.com by Oct. 27 to inquire about exemptions.
As of June 5, masks are encouraged, but not required. However, this policy is subject to change based on local/state/federal public health guidelines at the time of the meeting.
