10 Ways to Get the Most Out of the Annual Meeting

Step 1: Register early – You'll save money and be able to plan what sessions and events you'll attend.

Step 2: Book your housing and travel – Book your stay with official APHA hotels. Take advantage of discounted hotel rates on plane tickets, car service and Amtrak train fares with exclusive discount codes.

Step 3: Download the Mobile App – The meeting's Mobile App is a must-have tool! Familiarize yourself with the app before the meeting. Check out sessions, maps and presenters, learn who's attending, and build your schedule. Note: This app will only be available to registered users.

Step 4: Plan ahead – View sessions and events in the Mobile App or Online Program. Learn more about exhibiting companies in the Virtual Expo.

Step 5: Arrive on time – You don’t want to miss the Opening General Session, the grand opening of the Public Health Expo, or the Film Festival. There are more than just exhibit booths at the expo. Stop by the Public Health CareerMart Career Guidance Center for career-building events and activities, APHA Press for book signing and merchandise, membership booth for a professional headshot and more!

Step 6: Take it all in — View the schedule at a glance to see the highlighted events taking place at the Annual Meeting. The APHA Dance Party, book signings in APHA Press and the APHA Awards Ceremony and Reception are only a few examples of must-attend events.

Step 7: Network like a pro – For new or previous attendees, don't miss the Navigate and Network new attendee orientation on Sunday before the opening. You'll learn how to maximize your time at the meeting and learn to network like a pro. Check out these tips.

Step 8: Stay Healthy While Away From Home – APHA’s Wellness Center provides you with activities to stay healthy while traveling and tools to take time to relax, renew and refresh during the busy meeting. Put on your walking shoes and participate in the Steps Challenge to win prizes.

Step 9: Voice your thoughts – Join the conversation on social media by using #APHA2020 in your posts and tweets. Follow the APHA Annual Meeting on Twitter: @APHAAnnualMtg or APHA on other social media platforms. Read the Annual Meeting Blog to stay connected before, during and after the meeting.

Step 10: Don’t let the meeting end – The learning and networking doesn’t have to end when you return home. Share what you learned with colleagues. Purchase RAMP or APHA Live to listen to presentations you missed including ones for CE credit.
